100% Pure Wool must be gently hand washed in cold water to avoid felting and keeping your creation in great condition. We recommend using a gentle wool wash or mild detergent. We like to use PH Neutral or Balanced products.
You can machine wash (gentle cycle) superwash yarn however we would always recommend gentle hand washing instead. Note: All care is taken to remove all excess dye however you may get some slight bleeding particularly on darker yarns so we suggest washing separately. You can use a Wool Wash or a mild Detergent (try to avoid being heavy handed). We like to use PH Neutral or Balanced products.
If you are using more than one skein of hand dyed yarn it is always a good idea to alternate skeins. The beauty of hand dyeing yarn is getting a unique skein and while we make every effort to replicate each skein they will never be identical but will be close.
I grew up using 100% pure wool and when I started dyeing yarn my main priority was to source yarn that was not treated and more eco friendly to the environment. We do still have some Superwash available but our main focus is to dye pure wool.
We source all our yarn from Australia or NZ. Why NZ?? We are originally from NZ and love both countries farming ethics and like to know where our yarn comes from. The sheep that our yarn comes from is Merino and Corriedale which both produce beautiful soft wool.
